movie pictureNow that it is getting colder and darker earlier this is the time for indoor activities. One thing to do is going to the movies and if you like seeing them in their original language you got a couple of options in the city of Berlin. Here is a list of cinemas that do so:

  • Cinestar at the Potsdamer Platz at Sony Center is one of the biggest and also pretty commercial. Funny part, their website is in German and not available in English. Movie tickets are between 7 and 8 Euros. On Tuesdays it’s only 5.50 EUR, 3D movies are more expensive.

Ticket prices vary between 5.50 on Mondays and 7 to 9 Euros on the other days. Don’t forget to ask for their discount card: pay six and get the seventh for free.
  • Now we are getting of mainstream… fsk Kino at the Oranienplatz is a smaller cinema theater that shows independent movies. The program is on their website. You can subscribe to a newsletter in many different languages that will let you know when movies are shown. They offer a coupon and can be found on the website by clicking in the upper left corner on the word Kinogutschein. Two people can enjoy a movie for 14 bucks.
  • The Hackesche Höfe Kino is an independent arthouse cinema. It is located right in the touristy center of Hackescher Markt near Friedrichstrasse (map). Mondays and Tuesdays discounted ticket prices are available for 6,50 Euro. All other days you pay 8 and a little more if the movie is over 140 minutes long. The program is current available here.
